President Biden has provided the nation with the former. In defeating Trump in 2020, he saved the country from the latter. We are enormously grateful for that.
The President’s integrity and vision are intact. However, the energy and stamina the President needs for a campaign and a next term are diminished. This problem has been gnawing at the country for months and came to a head in and after the June 27 debate.
This leads us to a regretful conclusion. President Biden would best serve the nation he loves by releasing the convention delegates who are pledged to nominate him for a second term. His decision to do so would mean an open convention in August. We ask him to make that decision.
