»Verteidigen wir das Recht auf Freizügigkeit in Europa«

Aufruf des Netzwerks "European Alternatives", 28.1.2016 (engl. Originalfassung)

Act now to stop Europe putting back walls to free movement. Join us and Etienne Balibar, Yanis Varoufakis, Marisa Matias, Tania Bruguera and hundreds more to save free movement in Europe and say we are #AllFree2Move.

The right to freedom of movement is consistently named in polls as the most popular right of Europeans and a major achievement of the European Union. It is enshrined in the Charter of Fundamental Rights.

Yet freedom of movement is now under attack; the freedom of movement of European citizens and non-European citizens alike. National leaders and Brussels bureaucracy show an unwillingness bordering on recklessness to deal with an influx of refugees that should never have become a ‘migration crisis’. They use the excuse of ‘dealing with the migrant crisis’ to now call into question the possibility of anyone in Europe moving freely.

  • No, we will not surrender our rights to move freely throughout the continent.
  • No, we will not accept that Europe is incapable of correctly managing the inflow of refugees so that they are welcomed in a humane and decent way.

Freedom of movement in Europe is not just another international treaty. It is a fundamental right for all. Act now.
